The Fall 2020 Incoming Student Experience

As an incoming student—or a friend or family member of a soon-to-be Knight—you may be wondering what life will be like at Arcadia University this fall. Through innovative virtual experiences inside and outside of the classroom, your first year at Arcadia will be engaging and fulfilling.

Academic Support and Services

After careful consideration, Arcadia has decided to move all fall courses online. Explore how to get academic support, tips for virtual learning, and the resources available to help you succeed.

First-Year Student Schedules

Most new first-year undergraduates are registered for fall classes. You can check your tentative schedule on Self-Service. Log in using your MyArcadia email and password, click on the “Home” tab, and select “View Schedule.” If you have not yet submitted your course preference form and completed your online placement tests, please do so immediately; registration is typically completed within ten days after we’ve received these materials. Schedules will remain tentative until Aug. 26, when you will receive schedule confirmation and the assignment of your academic adviser, with whom you can discuss your questions and plans.

Transfer Student Schedules

When you register for classes, your schedule is confirmed, but you may not have been assigned to a permanent academic adviser yet. You can find your academic adviser by logging into Self-Service using your MyArcadia email and password, clicking on the “Home” tab, and selecting “View Schedule.” You can work with your adviser to assess and adjust your schedule. If you don't have an assigned academic adviser, you can reach out to the chair of your department or major for assistance.

Communicating with your adviser regularly is welcomed! They will help you navigate your major, Arcadia’s curriculum, virtual or online learning, and career exploration. Students who have not declared a major work with one of our professional academic advisers. You’re also welcome to submit a question to the open Student Advising Google Form.

Participating in online courses may be new to you. Canvas is the learning management platform used for all courses at Arcadia, and Zoom is the video conferencing tool you will use in the synchronous (real-time) portion of classes and to meet with faculty remotely. Information Technology (IT) will help you understand and access new technologies.
