Ally was launched for all Spring 2020 and future Canvas courses. The Provost announced in late 2019 the importance of accessibility for Arcadia web content and course materials posted in Canvas. Ally was implemented to assist in this effort, you are encouraged to explore Ally and learn how to identify and address accessibility concerns.
Ally runs on top of Canvas, enabling faculty to make their courses more accessible for students. Ally indicates items that are not accessible or that could be made more accessible while supplying faculty and course creators with detailed information on how to make the file or content more accessible. In addition to accessibility compliance, Ally also gives all students and viewers additional options for accessing and interacting with material.
Canvas Pages and Google Doc are not currently being scanned by Ally. To have a Google Doc checked by Ally, download the Google Doc as a PDF or a Microsoft Word file and upload it to your course for Ally to scan.

Turnitin is a plagiarism checker used by educational institutions worldwide to ensure originality of the submissions and keep academic integrity standards high.
Turnitin now utilizes Canvas’ Assignment tool for submissions and the SpeedGrader for grading and displaying the similarity report. This integrated option can be found within the Canvas Assignment tool (see directions below).
**All papers previously submitted through Turnitin are STILL in the database and will be searched for similarity matches.**
Select SpeedGrader from the right-hand side of the assignment.
To view your Similarity Report in Turnitin Feedback Studio, select the similarity percentage from the right-hand side of SpeedGrader.
Respondus Lockdown Browser & Monitor
Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor is now available on the course navigation in each Canvas course.
How LockDown Browser Works:
In a Canvas exam (Quiz), LockDown Browser locks down the testing environment to limit students from accessing other pages during the assessment and Respondus Monitor uses the students webcam to record them and flag activity for the instructor to review.
Assessments are displayed full-screen and cannot be minimized
Browser menu and toolbar options are removed, except for Back, Forward, Refresh and Stop
Prevents access to other applications including messaging, screen-sharing, virtual machines, and remote desktops
Printing and screen capture functions are disabled
Copying and pasting anything to or from an assessment is prevented
Right-click menu options, function keys, keyboard shortcuts and task switching are disabled
An assessment cannot be exited until the student submits it for grading
For your students to use LockDown Browser, they will need to download and install LockDown Browser on their own devices. Please provide them with this link so they can install it.
