This document provides governance and guidance for ScholarWorks@Arcadia, Arcadia University’s online, open access institutional repository. Outlined below are the defined policies for copyright, collections, and administration. Submission Information, and other information about repositories, open access, and scholarly communication can be found at both Scholarly Communication@Arcadia and ScholarWorks@Arcadia.
ScholarWorks@Arcadia collects the research and scholarship of Arcadia University in a single place to raise the profile of the university and its researchers. It also organizes the scholarship from departments, colleges, research centers, and faculty into a cohesive whole while highlighting the individual contributions.
As an online open access institutional repository, ScholarWorks@Arcadia increases the impact of the scholarship it collects by making it freely available to anyone, anywhere, anytime – creating a truly global presence for Arcadia University.
ScholarWorks@Arcadia is administered by Landman Library, and is supported by several academic units on campus including the Office of the Provost, the Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, the Honors Program, and Instructional Technology.
ScholarWorks@Arcadia includes research and scholarship produced by every school and department at Arcadia University. In addition, ScholarWorks@Arcadia publishes refereed, peer- reviewed journals and recognizes academic excellence by highlighting the award-winning work of graduate and undergraduate students at the University. Collections are organized by college, school, department, or administrative office, and are further sub-divided into faculty, graduate and undergraduate works.

All contributors to ScholarWorks@Arcadia contribute content with the knowledge that their work will be made freely and openly available to the world via the Internet. Authors retain their rights to all content published in ScholarWorks@Arcadia unless prior copyright and/or publisher agreements stipulate otherwise. Questions regarding copyright should be addressed to scholcomm@arcadia.edu.
ScholarWorks@Arcadia respects all intellectual property rights. We ask that contributors submit only copyright cleared items (i.e. those items for which they own copyright, are licensed under an appropriate creative commons license, or for which they have the appropriate publisher’s permissions. I hereby grant Arcadia University (the “University”) the non-exclusive right to copy, display, perform, distribute, preserve, and/or publish, in any format, in perpetuity, the content (the “Submission”) I submit to the ScholarWorks@Arcadia digital institutional repository, for use in connection with the University’s digital repositories, educational, and/or scholarly activities. Except for the non-exclusive rights set forth in this Agreement, no other rights in the Submission are being granted to the University.
I warrant that:
I agree to hold the University harmless for any liability, costs and fees arising from a breach of any of the foregoing warranties.
I understand that ScholarWorks@Arcadia was established to provide open access to a wide range of University-related digital content, and that content posted to ScholarWorks@Arcadia may be freely accessible to the public. If my Submission is posted to ScholarWorks@Arcadia, the Submission shall include my name and may also include other information, as applicable, such as my program/department.
I understand that I have the right to request that my Submission be removed from ScholarWorks@Arcadia, and that, if a written request for removal is made, the University will remove my Submission from ScholarWorks@Arcadia within 30 days of its receipt of such request. I further understand that the University has the right, in its discretion, to refuse to include any Submission in, or to withdraw any Submission from, ScholarWorks@Arcadia. Once a Submission is deposited with ScholarWorks@Arcadia, a bibliographic citation to the Submission may remain visible in perpetuity, even if the Work is modified or removed from the repository.
